We are looking for a talented and passionate leader to take ownership of and drive the Developer Relations effort for Avalanche’s global developer community. This is an ideal position for a knowledgeable and congenial leader who is interested in being a global brand ambassador while contributing to technical development and thought leadership in the blockchain space.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Build and lead a world-class DevRel team tasked with the growth of Avalanche’s global developer base. This includes working closely with the Ava Labs recruiting team to rapidly scale the DevRel team in support of Avalanche’s global expansion.
- Architect and implement a developer experience that sets Ava Labs apart as a team that understands the needs of the Avalanche developer community and consistently delivers against those expectations, complete with tooling and process. Includes processes to solicit and then respond to dev feedback more effectively.
- Design and lead the creation of a learning stack / educational curriculum, delivered through best-in-class digital tools, that serves developer needs at all levels of proficiency, from novice to expert.
- Serve as a lead evangelist of Avalanche technology and act as the principal liaison between builder communities and internal Product/Engineering teams
- Partner with peers in marketing and business development to onboard new developers and nurture promising teams through novel IRL and virtual events e.g. meetups, hacker houses, hackathons and incubation programs. This includes designing and optimizing the developer support function for all IRL events.
- Build and nurture relationships with prominent blockchain communities and student organizations in key markets.
- Identify and address gaps in DevRel and determine resources required to scale rapidly the technical community, including content, service, engagement, grants/funding and so on
- Collaborate with a Head of Community and a globally distributed team of Community Managers to optimize developer engagement in their regions (email, marketing, events, and so on).
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or related field
- 5+ years of experience as a developer
- Hands-on experience building blockchain applications, tooling or platform components
- 3+ years leading globally experienced teams in a technical function
- Prior experience collaborating with open source contributors and external teams/partners
- Deep technical knowledge of layer 1 blockchain networks
- Strong understanding of Avalanche network fundamentals (white papers)
- Public speaking and “boots on the ground” community engagement experience
- Strong knowledge of the developer products and tooling market in web3
- Expert level understanding of Git and/or other open source tools
- Ability to read and write Javascript and/or Typescript at a proficient level
- High levels of proficiency in smart contract development, and Solidity in particular
- Experience working with distributed backend systems built in Go or similar languages
- Ability to travel globally for conferences and regional hackathons
- Experience writing documentation and/or producing content is a nice to have
- A like for public speaking with experience hosting workshops and/or teaching
- Ability to travel globally for conferences and regional hackathons
